FYI, Kuroda (the guy who does Phish's lights) is considered by many to be the "fifth member" of the band. The music and the lights are very interactive for many of their songs.
So that's why it matters.

Do they let you queue on the road or prevent you from getting close until a certain time? Like what is the earliest time we can line up in our cars for entry an not be turned away or prevented by the law/security?

Glastonbury Festival Chaos

No tickets yet, but the place is so big i'll have no problem figuring it out before the show. Really looking forward to it, never been inside Wrigley and had a great time in Chicago last year.

The two guys to the left of me were carrying on a conversation the entire first set. Yelling so loud it was very hard to enjoy the music. Thankfully they left with about 20 minutes left in the set, right before I had had enough and was about to say something to them. They didn't come back till the break.
The funniest part is that at the break the one guy was complaining to a third party that the band didn't play long enough! Hey, all you had to do was listen and not leave!
They actually switched rows so they didn't bug me in the second set
A few words are a few comments on the music is cool but an entire conversation during a live set.....no way
We sat in front of about half a dozen very privileged underage nouveau-hippy type kids at Phish NYE at MSG this past year who talked throughout the whole show, and kept asking each other (and us) "do you know what song this is?" I think they were using the show as an excuse to do drugs and play hippy dress up and wear flowers in their hair.

They played 3+ hours straight. Did a nice Watchtower.
I bet the Bend show will be over the top.

7. Umphreys - I just don't get umphreys. I think I need more focus on the song in my jam bands. That said, they can really play and the guitar workout they did with Warren Haynes was probably my musical moment of the weekend.

Our daughter, on the other hand, my husband is convinced will be a chiller once she shakes this god-damned contemporary pop phase. She listens to music all the time, just not good music yet. When we asked her why she doesn't listen to oldies like Zeppelin or Floyd despite it being drilled into her head since being in utero, she said "Mom, no one at my school listens to older music" and I was floored! Everyone dug classic rock when I was her age. Hell, I wore my dad's 1983 Floyd tour shirt three times a week and listened to the Doors Alive She Cried to fall asleep every night! I can't believe I am that person bitching about kids these days and their music...

It will be an interesting fan dynamic. I think the tension between the two styles will be interesting.
We couldn't believe our luck though because many of the bands/acts playing we are huge fans of. Husb loves Umph, I'm obsessed with Brandi Carlile, we both love Keller and anything bluesy (Gary Clark FTW!). We basically just love to listen to live music all day and meet new people!
Our kids are now sophomores and juniors in high school and extremely responsible and self sufficient (not to mention wanting nothing to do with us anymore), so we've really been branching out and getting back to what we did before we had the little shits.
That being said, when discussing our summer concert/festy plans with the kids the other day my daughter said "Damn, my parents are having a more lit summer than I am..."

Camping area (or offsite):
ADA Camping (I've got a case of the degenerative arthritis)
Look for our spot with a "Special Needs Camping" sign my husband has had since HS when he broke his leg before Phish NYE in 1999. Probably be flying a big ol' Wisco flag as well.

Lockn' artists I've seen before:
Phish, Umphrey's, Wailers, Keller
Artist from the undercard I recommend:

The one song I absolutely must hear:
If Phish and Ween don't perform Roses together, I riot.
If I could add one artist to Lockn' it would be:
Widespread, I know, I know... They won't be there this year. But I'll be seeing them in October.
Prior festival experience:
FIRST FESTIVAL! Husband has been to many. But I've been to many, many show runs and camped offsite.
Last concert attended:
Phish NYE run at MSG, attending a Jackyl concert this Saturday (Yes, Jackyl) and DMB in July.

A similar thing was done here in WI for Alpine Valley. They banned camping after a rowdy 1985 Dead crowd terrorized neighboring farms, and were just recently approved to introduce camping again for the DMB show July 1-2. They only started selling camping this past Friday; I think waiting until just weeks before the show to sell camping was ridiculous. I'm mighty a'feared that they will pull the same thing with Lock'n.
