We thought about Wednesday. We are leaving Chicago Monday and arriving Tuesday and staying in Lovingston until Thursday morning. Hoping to be in by 9AM Thursday. Going hiking at Shenandoah National Park and going to try and hit up the appomattox. Promised the wife we would do a few other things Tuesday and Wednesday before festing it up.I would strongly recommend Wed. early entry. The gates are open from 4 pm to 8 pm on Wed. Get in, get set up and then just chill/party/meet friends both new and old and Thursday you wake up on the farm already setup and ready to go!

When is the last possible moment you think I could grab an RV Camping ticket? Same question for regular camping? All opinions are appreciated 
Impossible to say, but they typically sell out RV tickets at some point. They have multiple categories of RV now, and I may be remembering wrong, but I believe they sold out of some RV categories last year, even though ticket sales overall were unusually low.My advice is, if you're planning to get an RV spot, buy that ticket FIRST. The GA tickets will not sell out (although the price will increase).

The person who I have emailed with from Lockn has been super helpful with RV questions.
Outdoorsy has been a great website I have been using to locate and negotiate RV prices. And Kieth and Richmond RVs has been awesome. I am getting more versed with all of the ins and outs of RV rentals so please reach out if you need any advice!

If you rent an equipped RV, either have them remove all the knives, or bury them deep in the vehicle. Some have been picked up at the entrance search--not often, but enough to be aware. It just leads to a hassle retrieving them on exit.
Few RV's will have glass glasses, but that's a checked item, too.

So I got everything finalized through Richmond RV Rentals and spoke to Keith right after. He seems to really know his stuff and has multiple rigs going out there. He still has a few available if anyone is looking. His price for delivery/set up beats most I negotiated with plus he comes recommended. See you all on the farm!

My family members who go RV have done both pick-up and deliver on site--the latter due to a screw-up by the rental company (no RV to pick up) and fixing the screw-up by delivering at a friend's two miles from Lockn.
They prefer not to have it delivered so they can pack it with all their gear, beer, food and stuff--and they do not travel light. Otherwise they have to hump all that from the day parking lot to the RV and last year, that was a mile uphill.
They also have the late-comers pack into the RV in Richmond so the late-comers don't have to hump as much stuff. Sometimes they pick it up, drive to a central location, stuff it, and then drive to Lockn.
So they rate from best to worst: 1. pick up and pack 2. delivered to a nearby site off campus and 3. deliver on campus.

I like how the fenders align with the rear axel. May even help some. We have a neighbor with a No Boundaries tag along. Already a pretty capable off-road camper. I would wager this one now has it's own on board generator.

I noticed the fenders as well; at first glance i thought they might be springs or a lift. I wonder of there is suspension between the truck and RV, and if there are levelers there? Leveling that truck on some boards and bottle jacks might be a challenge....

In Steinbeck's "Travels with Charlie" about a driving trip with an RV in the 60's, he'd put his laundry in a bucket with water and soap in the morning, and when he stopped, it was washed like a washing machine.
