Anybody hear when Gates open for the 2014 Festival

Friday morning should be a piece of cake. Thursday will be yucky.

Can we park along side of highway 29 and wait for the gates to open?

Last year we spent wednesday night in the c'ville walmart parking lot, getting well under the beer limit

Yes, Charlottesville. I'm remembering it was half an hour, but could be a little longer...we ended up waaay under the beer limit.

We Walmarted in Lynchburg, or L'burg I guess if we're doing that, 45 min or so south of Lockn. Woke up, re-iced the coolers and rolled in.

Friday arrival will be no problem. 25-30,000 all at once on Thurs vs 5,000 spread out over the day on Fri.

We are driving in Wednesday. Staying local..

We need to find someone on this board who lives near Oak Ridge and has some land. Then we make nice-nice with him/her and descend like locusts on Wednesday.

I've been talking to some RV'er friends and it looks like they might do a meet up on Wed at the #$#$#$ just up the road a tad.

I think the whole Wed. thing had to do with Johnny Law & tax. As far as the tax I would gladly pay more to get in Wed. as would a lot of people. But heaven forbid someone would flash a nipple or smoke something bad without the ABC & their cameras rolling. Also being the first year they had no idea how it would go. From what I read they had a system set up & the police decided to do it the way they wanted to & no one knew what the hell was going on. I think they heard the people & are working hard to correct it. But being only the second year they will still have some problems.
