The leader of the Hackensaw Boys went to high school three miles from Festy. That's as local as it gets. They played Sunday morning at L1.

hmmmm, I wanted to be blown away by whatever the 'new' Festy was planning. I'm not. It's really solid and no complaints, though I'm not crazy with Greensky playing the first night, but they are my favorite jam grass so I'd see them anytime.

Can't imagine the other announcements are going to change my mind of some HUUGE shift or transformation of Festy. Happy with the lineup and it's still one of my favorite fests.

Sons of Bill played here (Highland) at a private party a few years ago. We really enjoyed them.

Tickets purchased. Excited about Carbon Leaf. They played at my kids' high school in the 90's. Later, in 2000/2001 they played a mini-fest on Mayo Island (small island, 10ish acres, right off the 14th Street bridge) in Richmond. Lot's of fun.

Way too many conflicts at the same time. To me, their schedule just broke the festival by about 25%.

Billy Sunday, Lil Smokies Friday. Just saw the Smokes last weekend; very pleasant band.

Last year they used the Blue Ridge Bowl for the main stage, had a second stage under a large tent in the lower show field (Lockn’ Main show field), and had a third and much smaller stage under a tent up on the hill above the Blue Ridge Bowl. Most of the vendors were down in the lower show field. Two years ago they had a huge community campfire near the camping area. Last year they had a much smaller community campfire in the lower show field. It just wasn’t the same. Didn’t notice the screwy pricing until you pointed it out. What’s up with that?!

On the surface, it’s a head scratch. Scratch the surface and there’s not much to see? Not like my trip to California wine country when we stopped in at the brewery (oasis of beer in a sea of wine) and saw that the price per oz INCREASED as you went up in glass size. After pointing this out to the indifferent and snooty server, I just had to order twelve one ounce pours of the ipa.

I’m new here and will be attending my first Festy (never been to Lock’n) ... I’ll be in Forest Camping and as I’ll be attending solo I’d appreciate some tips from folks!! I’ve attended many GD Shows back in the day so I’m good for the go but am wondering things like: what day will the campground open for entry??, are there showers ??, will there be good food vending and super long lines to buy it or ??, any particular things I should be sure to bring ?? Bring rain gear. It's a nice sized mid fest...crowds aren't too bad at all. A few of us also go solo, but 'solo' is just a state of mind...its easy to hang w/ folks...neighbors have always been 100% cool in my experience (5th festy for me) and you'll see a bunch of us post as it gets closer and you're certainly invited to hang.

Others will post more info, and I'll add more later.
