Will Lockn' Actually Happen?? (POLL)

Here's an interesting article about transmissibility following vaccination; I can't vouch for the source but it seems legit. Also my doctor told me that recent studies from Israel--where they are ahead, time-wise, on vaccinations--show that the Pfiser is 95% effective on preventing spread from vaccinated people.

I don't think it says anything about LOCKN dates and I think it's way too premature to be rescheduling October shows. but it is Coachella so...

I think we’ll get an announcement for Lockn just after Memorial Day. There’ll be a Skelton lineup announced, mainly whether or not Phil’s gonna play or who’s replacing him, probably a collab announcement too, we’ll probably know the whole lineup & set up by 4th of July. I think they’ll pair it down a little, maybe cap tix sales at 12K, limit camping beyond that & make people stay off site, have a small “assholes to elbows” PIT and 1st come 1st serve pods behind that for everyone else to socially distance if they choose. Lineup wise, I think Phil’s out, Bobby too and no Phish. I also think Lockn will have a couple shows or 3 day runs on the site in July/August to act as a dry run & make a little money. I believe June is when the decision on fall will be made, they’ll either start ramping up and testing the waters or they’ll shut down till 2022.

Well, I'm not blowing my $500+ that they are holding on "My Friend's Band" which might be headlining. Neil Lesh and Phil Young sound like daytime insurance salesmen (I like my insurance managers by the way) moonlighting in a local bluegrass band. My big investment money can be held for another year for the big show, and then charge a reduced fee for the local show!

On the serious side, is the offsite camping idea for less campground transmission risk? They'd have to do onsite camping, else how do they know what the cat drags in at show time. Onsite camping at your own risk I would think, but maybe not, because they have the portajohn issue. Anyway, even more seriously, I agree, too early to guess what vaccines and variants will do. I think that was a board game when I was a kid, V&V.

edit, maybe later they do RVs with toilets only onsite if necessary.

edit edit, it dawned on me that there is probably one or more "My Friend's Band" in actual existence, and I was right according to facebook.  So I wasn't talking about any of you, I'm sure you are all good bands, but you are probably not asking $500 per ticket either for your shows.

I can admittedly be slow on the uptake, but I am not sure I get the whole idea of kicking fall 2021 stuff to 2022.  What difference is it going to make?  I mean if we aren't where we need to be by this fall, won't it be because we can't get any more people to take the vaccine and we can't reduce the risk any further than where it is at that point?  Wouldn't that then be where we are going to be pretty much every year for the foreseeable future?  If the industry can't operate in that situation, then it would seem to be at a dead end.

I agree with the above; I think that when it opens it's all going to be "at your own risk" and now, everyone knows or should know what those risks are, both personally and as to a crowd. I suspect that starting a year ago, the promoters/venues were concerned about what liability they may have, and corresponding responsibility, and that being both a great unknown and large liability, would not take the chance. Now, everyone has a better handle on these things, from consumer to seller.

The other risk to business was the prospect of government restrictions including shut-downs and that's better known and evaluated now.

For all that, I see no reason to restrict camping in any form. Or at most, spread it out some (which means fewer tickets available). Safer to camp than ride back and forth on a school bus!

Floydfest is reducing the number of tickets available for sale. They have also said, though not officially yet, that they will not be requiring proof of a vaccination as a condition of entry. No statement about show field layout, pods, anything of that sort yet. If they can pull it off in July there is no reason that LOCKN can't do it in October.
