Fauci said today he sees the pandemic waning out this summer and return to packed stadiums for sporting events in September.

Concerts are a sporting event.

Therefore, concerts in September!

I'll go get my people on it right away.

My guess is that as far as finances go, they will just have to start from scratch, and a line in the budget will be dealing with the refunds. It's all about the investors and what they are willing to put up front, having been burned by the unprecedented shut-downs across the industry.

Pollstar said it was a $30 billion hit.

The money from ticket sales is not set aside in a safe or even an escrow account; it's in a working account and spent like any other revenue. The refund is simply a debt that's owed. Your bank account is the same way: you have no actual money in your account; the bank merely owes you a debt in the amount of your balance, if and when you choose to demand (withdraw) it. It's not like bills and coins in a safe deposit box.

The question is whether there is available capital in the account to pay debts like ticket refunds, and they simply choose not to, or whether the account is too low to make the refund payments. Like with our own household accounts when things get tight, they may have to choose which bills they pay and which they stretch--and ticket holders get stretched before heavy weights.

I know I'm not smosey but I think that you have done all that you can do at this point. I keep getting told that all refunds will be wrapped up in 5 to 7 business days (this was around Thanksgiving) but in typical LOCKN fashion those dates get moved out one week, then another, then another. I'm not sure how many are still left to be processed but I see lots of people still asking where their money is. 

PS the silence from LOCKN management has been deafening on this matter. They really should have gotten out in front of this and communicated with their customers. Then again, why am I surprised. LOCKN's gonna LOCKN...

BTW two cancelled festivals, Ultra and SXSW, announced a no refund policy, sticking to the wording in the tickets "NO REFUNDS". But each of them were whacked at the last minute, so it's more of a shared pain than an event like Lockn' being so far out and with more flexibility and options.

While I hate the big companies like Ticketmaster and LiveNation, they are better positioned to give refunds in extraordinary circumstances, and did, to my understanding, where those who bought from second tier sellers had no recourse. But the results were all over the board.

a discussion in California today was that by closing outside dining, they made the virus worse because it sent everyone inside to unsupervised private gatherings, which are worse. It makes me think of the stupid 21 drinking age that sends 3/4 of the college students into unsupervised stupid drinking.

In Los Angeles one in three people have the virus.

Bonnaroo won’t happen. It’s more about the travel than the crowd. For Manchester to have 20,000 people isn’t crazy but to basically bus in 20,000 people your opening up your community to too many variables. And when the people go home, they take COVID home & COVID stays in Manchester reeking havoc there as well. We won’t be near herd immunity by then, probably half way there. It’s too risky for a community to have an event like that. I’ve been told from the mouth of Deer Creek’s GM... it’s gonna be small single day, multi band events that tour regionally. Think H.O.R.D.E. Festival. Something that can play lawns, fields, drive ins & shuffle lineups without the ego’s of headlining acts getting in the way. I imagine something like Pigeons & Twiddle headlining w/ like Goose or Eggy on the undercard and then a band or two from that nights town. You may get a bluegrass version with GSBG, Billy Strings & Railroad Earth. A SCI, UM & STS9 thing. Maybe WSP, TTB, Mule & BlackBerry Smoke go out. Phish is the bell weather though, maybe DMB too. When Phish books dates for real, you’ll know real tours are back. In this scene they have the biggest crowds by far, are the most socially conscious by far & are probably losing more money than anybody else too. When they figure it out, the scene will come back. I haven’t been a true Phan since Coventry, some disappointments you don’t get over (it’s like your wife cheating on you) but I have total faith that they’ll play live in 2021 for a big crowd & so will all our favorite bands. Let There Be Songs To Fill The Air.
