On a serious note--rare for me, I know--our friend, brother, leader and hero TOO will have surgery tomorrow on his foot, and it's fairly extensive. And at our tender age, any surgery is worrisome, but he is in good spirits and knows he'll get through it fine. I know he will appreciate our collective prayers, vibes, meditations, auras, thoughts and simpatico expressions, each in his own way, to carry him toward healing.

After that, he'll have a number of months in a cast, in winter where if it isn't uphill it's downhill, and for that his wife especially will need our spiritual support!

Today, I am thankful for my wife and 2 kids (17&20 years old). We don't celebrate Valentine's Day. So I texted my wife about what we should do tonight since its a Friday and I have off work Monday. 75 years ago, and 4 days after his 20th birthday, my Dad landed on Iwo Jima. He survived the full five weeks without injury.

Like all true heroes, he insisted he was not a hero; they were the ones left behind. 20 years old! Can you imagine?

“Every day after that was a blessing.” He appreciated music--all kinds--, a proper martini in a proper glass, and sunsets. He'd be happy to know that all three of his children go to Lockn' together!

ETA my sister Jane and I went to Allman Betts last night and when they played Blue Sky, recalled how much our dad like that song.

To revive an old thread I think started by Sneake:

I am thankful I am not someone else. If you are worried about your problems, you don't have to look hard or far to find someone, usually someone you know, who has it a whole lot worse.

When a cousin was having a conflation of life crises, a friend thanked him for making everyone else feel so much better about their own lives.

There is an old saying that if everyone in the village had to put their troubles in a pile, to be divided equally among all, most would just as soon keep what they already have.

Be thankful, and grateful, and place a hand on those who have it worse.

I am thankful for my loving, fun family and all of the shenanigans we have together. I am thankful for a loving wife who is my best friend and two awesome children. I am thankful for my health and my job. I am thankful that I have a full head of hair at 60. I an thankful for living to be 60

. I am thankful for a roof over my head. I am thankful that my Mom is here intown with me in a place that makes her happy. I am happy that I will have my first Thanksgiving with Mom in over 30 years. I am thankful that MJ is legal in VA now.

Last but not least I am thankful for YOU, well most of you...You guys and gals have moved from internet friends to real-life friends to family. I love and appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to many fun times ahead.
