Well, now that the rumors have proven to be true we are doing Watkins instead of any other fest. The lineups just aren't there for us this year. We aren't even doing SCAMP.
I don't want to have a big time, I want to have a HUGE time!!!
Brussel sprouts are always on the menu. We went out for fish on Friday and I asked for them with my wine. Bartender thought I was nuts.

In 2016 Nick and I were like car #6 in one of the lines for ADA/VIP entrance when they opened. They moved some bags around, pulled a cooler out, and sent us on our way. The people next to us had a couple cases of fancy beer confiscated. They hid it in plain sight. You just have to stash well and be smart. They don't want the hassle of pulling someone out of the line or dealing with a pissed off person or a backed up line. Just don't give them a reason to HAVE to confiscate your stuff.

1. Ween St. Patrick's Day shows in Chicago- SUPERB! Excellent crowd, they sounded tight, and the weather was great.
2 Summer Camp- Highlights were for sure Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, the late night Red Barn with Moe., UM covering some Floyd, and Waka Flaka (high energy for sure). Cherry on top was standing in five inches of mud while watching Primus and seeing Govt. Mule play the day Gregg Allman passed.
3. Phish at Northerly Island- Despite the awkward venue the shows were AMAZING. They just sounded really good every night and played a good variety of songs to keep the energy up.

I'm back! Phew. All graduated and stuff (see below). My thesis ended up being 130 pages. If you enjoy learning about embedding responsible and sustainable behaviors in a modern energy delivery company, I'm your gal! Degree earned was a Masters of Science in Sustainable Management.
I missed you all!
Someone catch me up on the haps with Lockn'. LOL
XOXO

This past Sunday a group called the Jimmies played at a street festival in my city. A bluesy type cover band with a killer brass section and organ player. Very jammy and super talented.
This weekend I am going to Riot Fest in Chicago (I know.........) to see Dinosaur Jr. and the reunion after 21 years of my second favorite group of all time, Jawbreaker. I believe I posted when the news came out of the show. This is probably the biggest deal show for me ever. I'm so excited I can't sleep. Eek!

I've deleted all my social media temporarily, and am really scaling back on any sort of online participation to concentrate on my last semester of grad school.
I just wanted to convey the message that I'm not ghosting anyone and no one has been deleted, nor is there trouble in Mandi Paradise.

You were in my thoughts and I am glad to hear you are safe. All of my family and other friends survived with very little damage. Blessings, indeed.

Anytime I find myself in a string of cars in the left lane and am frustrated I can't go my desired speed, I always find pulling over to the right for five minutes or so and going the speed of whomever is in front of me and allowing the congestion to pass solves the problem.
Secondly, on our way to Lockn' 2016 somewhere in the Virginia mountains, two semi drivers were very purposefully driving next to one another doing <exactly> the speed limit for at least 15 miles. I can imagine them laughing at the pileup behind them over their radios. I have yet to think of a good reason for them doing so outside of being absolute pricks.

WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! Have fun, my friends!!!

Logistically it isn't in the cards, I'd have to exhaust all of my vacation, but I'm so, SO pleased all you fine folk are going to have such an excellent weekend!
Who is going to see Brandi on Friday for me?
By the way, friends brought back some pickled Brussels sprouts from Wisco for our bloodies this year. Representing!
Excellent news, both for watching Brandi and the gift of sprouts! I hope you're enjoying them. Maybe I'll ship some of this year's pickled goodies as your reward for taking one for the Moon team. I'm doing beans, cauliflower, sprouts, pickles AND jarring salsa this year.

I have seriously considered these last 24 hours saying fuck it and driving down... Like truthfully working it out in my head and saying "it can't be THAT bad driving 16 hours by yourself..."

I kind of (not really) feel sorrow for the folks who aren't coming because it was so hot last year.
The faithful are being rewarded. Every time I look at the forecast it gets better. Make sure to bring those long sleeve shirts and hoodies. Did somebody say something about moving dates to Sept. when it would be cooler?
What I would have given to have this kind of weather last year... Enjoy!

Agree 100%, you lucky, luck man to have seen that in 1994!
Can't wait to meet up again some day, and thanks so much for making the effort to keep us all in line.

This is funny as I needed an emergency root canal the morning I was to leave for Summer Camp. Could have used this guy.

The kids had a blast and made it to two shows! I was beyond pleased that they got an Antelope on their first night. The second night they sat alone, and rebuffed all drugs and alcohol passed their way (or so they told me; Elise did seem a bit giddy afterwards, but who isn't after a show?).
Genius me decided to skip 8/5 show in favor of Shakespeare in the Park. And of course they played my personal favorite Phish song Alaska AND covered Boston, which is my favorite guilty pleasure band, playing my two favorite Boston songs. It left a bitter aftertaste upon a truly magical performance of a Midsummer Night's Dream.
I haven't the energy for a lengthy report like mccjeff provided (as I'm still recovering), but we did eat the most amazing food including Famous Amadeus, Esquina, and the best tiny little eastern European spot in Brooklyn that had spinach pierogies that made me want to weep and my little Polish heart explode. The name escapes me at the moment.
Also, we managed a mini-Lockn' meetup with @snyooterdynck on the last night (and tried very hard to also meet up with wizard1 , but it was not in the cards).
Alas, I could not ply Bryan with whiskey no matter how many times I offered, but appreciate the effort made to find us amongst the truly unruly crowds before showtime.

Nitrous tanks are not on the prohibited list. (I wouldn't bring them I'm just saying that they are not on the list of things that you cannot bring)...
OMG It was TERRIFYING leaving Northerly Island in Chicago after Phish!!! Scary people (pre-show) literally walking around with large sandwich boards advertising tanks for sale, free delivery, no deposit, etc. and people clamoring for their cards. After the show we were walking out down the only road off the island and surrounded by hundred of tanks going off in the trees and low brush, people passed out on the grass clutching balloons. Literally hundreds of people doing it.
Because of the mass of people, the cops couldn't do anything but drive through and shout through their megaphones or whatever to "STEP AWAY FROM THE NITROUS TANKS! WE WILL GET OUT!" but of course they didn't. We lost two from our group to the nitrous tanks during that walk. I couldn't believe how blatant the whole operation was.
I don't get the appeal. I did some air duster once in high school and it freaked me the F out.

Red is probable, but not for sure. It may be a last minute get up and go.
Green is a for sure.
We will also be seeing a lot of random local shows. Also this Saturday, the reggae band that played our wedding reception is playing a 4:00 show in town. Saturday Funday for me!!!!
May 26-28, Summer Camp in Chillicothe, IL
June 2nd, Ween in Royal Oak, MI
June 8-9 Blue Ox in Eau Claire, WI
July 12th, Huey Lewis and The News, in Oshkosh, WI
July 14-16, Phish in Chicago, IL

Hydrate, know your limits, and apply sunscreen liberally. Take it easy because dehydration is a sneaky beast. The crowds will not be an issue, and I'm sure you'll find many fine and helpful folks that will go out of their way to accommodate you if you should need assistance. Also, first aid folks are very helpful, and you always have the option of asking for rides from ADA personnel. While you're not technically handicapped, I'd like to see anyone turning down a pregnant woman.
And, while I cannot comment on the cot tent, my husband and I do sleep on cots at shows, just a regular "deluxe" model you can find at Walmart for about $40. They keep you very cool, because you're suspended above the ground and air can circulate around you. I usually lay my 1" yoga mat underneath myself and sleep very well, especially for someone with degenerative disc disease and arthritis. I think cots are greatly undervalued options for sleeping.
